Ellie In The Spring Garden
Her white furry paws patted their way through the dew of the damp grass, the garden was dazzled in the pale pure light of the spring sun.
The grass was green and fresh, the flower pots shined vibrantly with bright violets, white and red flowers imposing their beauty upon this sunny afternoon.
Ellie made her way across the grass, moving her feet gently and fast to reach the corner where the shed met the wooden fence. Her favourite spot was the oval plant pot, lying right beside it.
The ground in front of this pot was squashed and flat in a circular shape where Ellie liked to curl up and rest.
This was her spot and hers alone, a place of comfort, meditation and relaxation.
There was no exposure to threats from behind, they could only come from the front. She could oversee what was before her which gave her a great sense of closure.
I stood and watched her from the window, the pleasant sight of her with no care in the world. Gone from any worries of threats, loved and welcome to shelter inside only metres away. To watch her was calming, it slowed the beat of the heart, and seized any trivial concerns of tomorrow.
I still look out to that corner of the garden even now. The grass has grown back, and the oval plant pot is gone. Yet still when I look out into the garden, to that spot. Her presence is there and those feelings of calmness remain.
